Cockett was the head coach of the varsity girls basketball team since 1997, winning state titles in 1999, 2000, and '02. He also coached with the boys program, in many different capacities, from the 1970s to 2007. The retired Honolulu Police sergeant was a 1963 graduate from Kamehameha, earning all-star honors while helping the team to back-to-back state titles in 1962 and '63. He then played one season at the University of Hawai'i in 1963-64, for legendary coach Red Rocha.
Canoe paddling icon Lum has been the coach for girls paddling and kayaking since its inception in the 1970s. She headed the program into the HHSAA state championship era in 2002, helping the Warriors win five of the first six state titles (2002-05, '07), including each of the first four. Lum resigned just prior to the 2010-11 season. Assistant coach Kehau Meyer was appointed interim head coach and led the Warriors to another state title this season.
