The Kamehameha Middle School Team placed 6 out of 18 Teams in the MATHCOUNTS Honolulu Chapter Competition, which was held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Kamehameha Middle School. Poʻo Kula Kūikawā Waiʻaleʻale Arroyo stopped by to welcome teams to campus and cheer for our Warriors!
The Top Five Teams from the Honolulu Chapter, along with the First Place Team from the Maui Chapter, will advance to the MATHCOUNTS State Competition which will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Kamehameha Middle School.
In addition, the students in the Honolulu Chapter who scored in the top 25% according to their written competition scores, qualified to advance to the State Competition as Individual competitors.
Kamehameha has four students who qualified and are advancing to the State Competition. The Kamehameha Coach is Wen Wan Lieu and the Assistant Coach is Kim Terai, both Math Kumu at the Middle School.

Due to severe weather conditions, including heavy rain, potential flooding, and high winds, Kamehameha Schools Kapālama will be closed on Monday, February 9, 2026.

All school offices will be closed. Only essential personnel will be on campus.
Residential Life will remain open; however, students who have already checked out for the weekend should remain with their sponsors, if possible. Residential Life is sending a more detailed message to families in the program.
All transportation services, all athletic activities, and all afterschool activities are cancelled.

This weekend, our Kula Haʻahaʻa 5th grade students competed in the FIRST LEGO Robotics Championship at McKinley High School. They showcased their Kapālama Ahupuaʻa model, sharing moʻolelo, cultural knowledge, and engineering decisions behind their design. Their creativity, teamwork, and deep grounding in Hawaiian ʻike truly stood out, earning them the Model Award for innovation and excellence.
