Summary of Kamehameha Schools Gatherings (including San Francisco, Los Angeles)

On O'ahu, the gathering will be at 'Iolani Palace on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 8 to 10:30 a.m. The events include speeches from Native Hawaiian leaders, Kamehameha Schools trustees and halau performances. A march to Mauna 'Ala will follow the rally.

There will also be gatherings at the following Neighbor Islands:

  • Hawai'i Island:
    • o (East Hawai'i): Saturday, Aug. 6, 9 to 10 a.m., Kamehameha Schools Hawai'i Campus, Koai'a Gymnasium (prayer service);
    • o (West Hawai'i): Saturday, Aug. 6, 10:30 a.m. to noon, Hale Halawai Ceter (parking lot across the street) (march through Kailua to 'Ahu'ena Heiau)

 

  • Maui: Saturday, Aug. 6, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Maui Community College,
    (rally followed by sign waving along Ka'ahumanu Avenue)

 

 

  • Kaua'i: Saturday, Aug 6, 4 to 5 p.m., King Kaumuali'i Elementary School Cafeteria,
    (informational session followed by a rally at 5 p.m.)

 

 

  • Moloka'i: Saturday, Aug. 6, 4:30 to 6 p.m., Külana Öiwi Hälau,
    (informational session)


In addition to the above events, a rally will take place on Lana'i City on Saturday, Aug. 6, 9 to 11 a.m., at the flag pole in center of town.

The following are gatherings taking place on the Mainland:

 

  • • Southern California: Saturday, Aug. 6, 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Bannings Landing, 100 East Water Street, Wilmington, Calif. (performance of one-play re-enactment followed with a rally and open forum)
  • • San Francisco: Saturday, Aug. 20, noon, Meet at the U.N. Plaza (8th and Market); March to the U.S. Ninth Circuit and return to U.N. Plaza for Rally
