The process will begin in mid-May with interviews with representatives from the Kapālama faculty, administration, operations, students and parents as well as alumni and the general community. Kamehameha Schools hopes to select finalists for the position by early November.
"We want to ensure that we build on our strengths and the current direction of KS Kapālama, which was recently endorsed by the six-year HAIS/WASC accreditation of the Kapālama K-12 program," stated CEO, Dee Jay Mailer.
Dr. Rod Chamberlain, Vice President for Campus Strategic and Academic Affairs, will facilitate the search process. "KS is asking for active participation in the Headmaster search process by key stakeholders and the general public," said Chamberlain. "In addition to the May interviews, Kamehameha Schools will accept input from the general public via an online survey at the Wickenden website www.wickenden.com. The input will be used to create an "opportunity statement" that will be used to encourage applicants for the position."
Wickenden Associates has conducted Head of School searches for nearly 300 independent schools across the nation and internationally and was involved in head searches for KS' Maui and Hawai'i campuses in 2001.
Kamehameha Schools is a private, educational, charitable trust founded and endowed by the legacy of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop.
