Premiere Benefit showing of Waikiki nei

August 13, 2008

Contributed by Thomas Yoshida

The event will feature food, drinks, entertainment and a private showing of Waikīkī nei at Level 4. This new and exciting theatrical and multi-media show is produced in collaboration with Kamehameha Schools' cultural advisory committee. Featuring a largely local cast, Waikīkī nei is a blend of Hawaiian mele, hula and language fused with contemporary styling, acrobatics and modern dance elements.

After the show, the theater will be transformed to a nightclub and ultra lounge, featuring state-of-the-art technology, aerialists and a dance environment like no other in Hawai'i.

The gala is presented by the Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association (NaHHA), the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa's School of Travel Industry Management (TIM) and Ke Ali'i Pauahi Foundation.

When:
Thursday, August 21, 2008
5:30 p.m.

Where:
Royal Hawaiian Center, Waikīkī
Level 4

Why:
The purpose of the gala is to increase Native Hawaiian leadership in Hawai'i's largest industry by creating a scholarship for students enrolling in two- and four-year travel industry programs.
