This theatrical debut is a first for Pacific Islanders in Communication (PIC), established in Honolulu in 1991 as a national non-profit media arts corporation. PIC co-founder Heather Giugni, KS '72, approached the organization for funding and support for the film's creation. PIC Executive Director Ruth Bolan confirmed a landmark partnership between PIC, Consolidated Theatres and the Ke Ali'i Pauahi Foundation (KAPF) wherein Consolidated Theatres will donate 10% of net proceeds from the One Voice film's Hawai'i release to the Foundation, which will help support KAPF's mission of providing more educational opportunities for Native Hawaiians.

To book advance tickets, visit www.consolidatedtheatres.com. And if you want to arrange a private showing (minimum 75 people), contact Consolidated Theatres marketing director Lindsey Chun-Hori, a KS 2004 graduate. "Several alumni are considering viewing the film together as a class event," said Micky Huihui, PIC marketing director and KS '91

Chun-Hori advised that if the film does well during its initial two week run, it could be extended for another week, and possibly be considered for airing in west and east coast markets! One Voice is currently also playing to audiences in Japan in Shibuya, Osaka and Nagoya, and PIC is in discussions to take One Voice to New Zealand and Australia! The One Voice theatrical debut comes after a wildly successful run on the film festival circuit over the past year, where it won several awards, including:

  • Audience Choice Award for Best Documentary at the 2010 Hawai'i International Film Festival
  • Audience Choice Award for Best Documentary at the 2011 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival
  • Overall Best Film at the 2010 San Diego Asian Film Festival, and
  • The film's director, Lisette Flannary, (of Na Kamalei: The Men of Hula fame) was nominated for Best Director at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
