To provide easier access and information about this vast network of programs, Kamehameha Schools has launched a new website, www.ksbe.edu/communityeducation. The Community Education and Services site guides users through a range of Kamehameha Schools programs, which supports learning from P-20 (prenatal or age 0 to 20 years old and beyond).
"We wanted to make it easier for families and teachers to find Kamehameha Schools' community education programs and services," says Chris Pating, vice president of Strategic Planning & Implementation for Kamehameha Schools. "The site's interactive capability allows families to search programs specific to their needs."
The interactive features allow users to search for programs alphabetically, geographically or by interest. Programs are also organized within the age groups and grade levels they serve. The site also includes programs run by community collaborators, which Kamehameha Schools helps to fund and support.
Along with the list of programs designed for keiki, both teachers and parents can utilize resource pages providing pertinent links and information on accessing these programs, from financial aid information to registering with the Ho'oulu Hawaiian Data Center.
Pating continues, "Our hope is that this site will be a valuable tool for our Native Hawaiian community to find and access ways they can benefit from the legacy of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop beyond our campuses."
