National Guard and Reserves Mobilization

September 28, 2001

Contributed by CEO Message

We at KS are deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of staff who may be called upon to take actions needed to enhance our national security. We are also keenly aware, many of us through personal experience, that if mobilized, staff and their families will be subject to the many pressures of uncertainty and separation. It would be helpful at this time to assess the potential impact on staff and family members in the event the mobilization is increased or extended over a long period. This will help determine the need for programs to support staff and their families who may be impacted by this national effort. Further, this assessment will facilitate planning for operational needs to minimize the impact on our primary mission. In order to complete this assessment, specific information regarding staff affiliation with the National Guard or Reserves needs to be collected. We are asking staff to voluntarily disclose their Armed Forces affiliation using the attached form to capture this data. If this situation applies to you, please complete the attached form at http://ksonline.ksbe.edu/enews/ceo/Disclosure_Form.doc and e-mail to Ford Chinen of the Human Resources Division at: fochinen@ksbe.edu or send a hard copy to: Human Resources Division, attn: Ford Chinen. If you are a supervisor, please ensure that staff in your area who do not have access to e-mail are provided a copy of this message with the attachment. Should you have any questions please contact Ford Chinen at 842-8708. Mahalo to each and every one of you for your help during this most difficult period in our nation's history. Hamilton I. McCubbin Chief Executive Officer
