KS Verifying Hawaiian Ancestry through Ho’oulu Hawaiian Data Center

February 8, 2004

Contributed by CEO Message

Here are some key messages about our registration effort currently underway:

  • Kamehameha Schools' Preference Policy: Kamehameha Schools gives preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.
  • Kamehameha Schools' preference policy applies to all education programs and financial aid administered by Kamehameha Schools.
  • To be considered under the Kamehameha Schools' preference policy, you must verify your Hawaiian ancestry with Kamehameha's Ho'oulu Hawaiian Data Center.
  • The registration process includes filling out an official Hawaiian Ancestry Registry form and submitting appropriate supporting documentation, such as birth certificates.
  • To avoid delays in verification -- REGISTER IMMEDIATELY!
  • Applicants who do not verify Hawaiian ancestry by the respective program deadline may NOT be considered for preference in admission to a program.
  • You do not have to be a current applicant to a Kamehameha Schools program to verify your Hawaiian ancestry. Once verified, you do not have to re-submit ancestry documents for any other Kamehameha Schools programs.
  • Remember that Hawaiian ancestry registration is a separate process from program application, and does not guarantee admittance to any of Kamehameha's programs.
