KS Organizational Improvement Survey to be Launched in April

March 10, 2002

Contributed by CEO Message

I believe that staff will drive and balance this organization as we strive to fulfill our Strategic Plan. So it is crucial to get input from you that will allow us to manage our growth and change, improve our work environment, and create and maintain the culture that we believe in and want. That is the purpose of the survey. More importantly, the results will be shared with staff, and reviewed by executives and managers to help improve our organization. This is an important point, because I know that results and outcomes of past surveys, including the management audits that focused on operations, governance and structure, have not always been shared with staff. Policy Analysis and System Evaluation (PASE) is tasked with managing the project. An Advisory Group has been convened, and this week, randomly selected staff will be invited to participate in focus groups to help define the survey instrument. Over the next few weeks, more information will be provided to you about the survey, which will be conducted by the firm of Watson Wyatt Worldwide (WWW), a locally- and nationally-respected leader in the field of organizational effectiveness. I am anxious to hear your input, and I hope you will contact PASE for more information about the survey: Chris Melahn (chmelahn@ksbe.edu; 541-5325); Kathy Tibbetts (katibbet@ksbe.edu, 541-5321); Zijin Yang (ziyang@ksbe.edu, 541-5322) or Shawn Kanaiaupuni (shkanaia@ksbe.edu, 541-5365). Or you may email WWW consultant Jack Roose at jack.roose@watsonwyatt.com if you have questions or input. Be sure to include "KS Org Improvement Survey" in the subject line of your email. Hamilton McCubbin, Ph.D. Chief Executive Officer
