KS Awards Over $14 Million in Post-High Scholarships

August 22, 2004

Contributed by CEO Message

More than 4,500 applications for post-high financial aid were received this year. I am especially grateful to our KS staff and alumni volunteers who, through personal calling and community workshops, helped many families complete the application process. As in previous years, there were students who did not receive awards because they did not demonstrate financial need, or their applications were incomplete or submitted past the deadline. And, as before, these students were given a chance to request reconsideration. In a few cases, we were unable to award financial aid because our funds were depleted, since assistance is provided first to applicants with the greatest financial need. KS is committed to Princess Bernice Pauahi's vision of improving the capability and well-being of her Hawaiian people through education. And as more Hawaiian students pursue post-high education, we will look to and actively seek the generous support of those who have previously benefited from Pauahi's gift to help future generations. We hope we can count on your continued kokua. Malama pono, Dee Jay Mailer Chief Executive Officer
