"KAPF has the honor of awarding nearly 300 scholarship awards this year – thanks in part to many generous donors who have initiated new scholarships this year," said Bran-Dee Torres, KAPF's scholarship coordinator. "Recipients this year truly exemplify what Ke Ali'i Pauahi Foundation is striving to achieve-they represent all walks of life, traditional and non-traditional learners taking the opportunity to improve themselves and assuming their kuleana to improve the capability and well-being of all Native Hawaiians."

Individuals who receive these scholarships must be a classified student in a degree-seeking program at an accredited institution; be enrolled in a full- or part-time accredited two- to four-year post-high degree program; demonstrate financial need (if applicable); and must demonstrate satisfactory academic achievement and merit.

"Education after high school is very challenging. We are faced with many obstacles including where we are going and how we get the money to achieve our dreams," said recipient Ale'a Arce from Moloka'i who was recently awarded the Paul Pua'a 'Ohana, Paul Moses Murray & Malia Murray

Grant which honors family members who have overcome personal hardship and made great strides to make education a priority. Undergraduate students attending college (including community college) or vocational school with a preference to students of special circumstances/personal hardship, residents of Moloka'i and students who demonstrate financial need are welcome to apply.

"Through your (KAPF) generosity we are able to dream a little bigger," Arce said.

The Foundation's policy is to give preference to applicants of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.
