The two-week in-residence program will be held on the Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Campus, with student participants researching, discussing, debating and proposing solutions to the problems and challenges facing the countries of the Pacific Rim.
The program, open to students between the ages of 15 to 18 who have at least one more year of secondary school remaining, is scheduled to run from July 29 to August 12, with international students scheduled to arrive on July 27. Application deadline is April 22.
All expenses, including instruction, educational materials, housing, meals, ground transportation and entrance fees will be borne by Kamehameha Schools. Students are responsible for round-trip air transportation.
Between 1991 and 2004, 372 students representing 22 countries have participated in KSIIS, with students assuming leadership and policy-making roles in proposing resolutions in such areas as economic development, human resources, public works, education and culture.
