"I am really excited to be a part of this program," said Jenai Yoshii, new head coach of girls water polo. "As part of the Kamehameha coaching ohana, I hope to elevate these young student athletes' health, fitness and confidence, as well as encourage a healthy spirit of competition and love for the sport, enough so that they will be encouraged to go on and play at the next level."
Yoshii comes to Kamehameha with more than eight years coaching experience of competitive water polo and swimming. Most recently, she coached at the collegiate level, assisting nationally ranked women's water polo and swimming programs at Sierra College (Rocklin, Calif.).
Yoshii played water polo for the University of Hawaii and she became a California Community College All-American as a member of the 1998-2000 Sierra College Hall of Fame women's water polo team.
A Sierra College graduate, Yoshii earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa. She's currently working on a master's degree in athletics administration and lives in Honolulu with her husband Rich.
