Kamehameha's KSDL received a Gold Award of Excellence in the category, "Best Practices Awards for Distance Learning Programming." The USDLA honored nine other organizations in this category. KSDL offers online programs for high school students, adults and educators.
"We are so excited and humbled by this prestigious award," said Dorothy Hirata, director of Kamehameha Schools Distance Learning. "Our programs enrich learners of all ages to reconnect with Hawaiian culture, language and history in creative and innovative ways."
"As a premier organization for the entire distance learning profession, we are honoring Kamehameha Schools as a leader in the industry," said Dr. John G. Flores, CEO of USDLA. "Kamehameha's Distance Learning branch has raised the bar of excellence and we are truly proud of its contributions to the distance learning industry."
The USDLA Awards were created to acknowledge major accomplishments in distance learning and to highlight those distance learning instructors, programs, and professionals who have achieved and demonstrated extraordinary results through the use of online, videoconferencing, satellite and blended learning delivery technologies.
"We strive to deliver high quality programs that bridge technology and culture," Hirata said. "We'll continue to provide opportunities to pursue the knowledge of our kupuna, utilizing the vast technological tools of today."
