The voices behind the title song, "He Mele No Lilo," and "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride," are those of fifth, sixth and seventh grade members of the Kapalama Campus' KS Children's Chorus (KSCC), directed by Lynell Bright. The choir will travel to Hollywood to attend the premiere and will perform the title song live on stage at the event. "It is an unbelievable dream trip," said KSCC director Lynell Bright. "Everyone has worked so hard to make this once-in-a-lifetime experience happen for the students! We are so grateful to the KS administration for their encouragement and to the LILO & STITCH producers and directors who were very supportive!" In addition, the students who recorded the songs in December 2001, have already taped a segment for The Disney Channel's "Movie Surfers," a kid's show that takes a behind the scenes look at the making of LILO & STITCH. KSCC also taped a music video version of their song for ABC's "Wonderful World of Disney" special that will air on ABC-TV on Sunday, June 16, the night of the world premiere of LILO & STITCH. "We're all very proud of the students, and really excited about this opportunity for them to represent Kamehameha Schools and Hawaiian children to a worldwide audience," said Kamehameha Elementary Schools Principal Kahele Kukea. Combining unforgettable characters, an imaginative and offbeat story, and colorful artistry, Walt Disney Pictures' delightful new animated comedy, LILO & STITCH, tells a captivating tale of a young girl's close encounter with the galaxy's most mischievous extraterrestrial. Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl who adopts a small ugly 'dog,'whom she names Stitch. Stitch would be the perfect pet if he weren't in reality a genetic experiment who has escaped from an alien planet and crash-landed on Earth. Through her love, faith and unwavering belief in "ohana," (the Hawaiian concept of family), Lilo helps unlock Stitch's heart and gives him the one thing he was never designed to have -- the ability to care for someone else. With its lush tropical setting, unique sense of humor, and classic songs by Elvis Presley, LILO & STITCH promises to capture imaginations everywhere. Disney's LILO & STITCH opens in theatres nationwide on June 21.
