Kamehameha Dance Company presents contemporary dance concert May 2-4

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 2; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 3; and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 4. Dancers will perform to the tunes of popular contemporary and local artists, including Janet Jackson, Crystal Waters, Seal, Hootie and the Blowfish, Vanessa Williams, Gloria Estefan and Tito Puente, Jr. Choreography was done by KDC Director Erin Morita and KS alumni Noelle Naone, Daryl Springer, Maile-Ginger Ripp and Maile Fernandez. The production will also feature choreography by the dance company's founder and former director, Stacey Archer-Little, and former assistant director Ka'ohi Yojo. Kamehameha Schools is a statewide educational system founded and endowed by the legacy of Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, comprising three campuses on three islands and more than 30 preschool sites throughout the state of Hawai'i. Nearly 4,900 preschool through grade 12 students of Hawaiian ancestry are currently enrolled. Through a range of outreach programs and financial aid opportunities, Kamehameha extends its educational reach and resources to meet the needs of thousands of other Hawaiian learners not served within its classrooms.
