Kamehameha CyberWarriors Present HiTechFest: A Technology Conference

February 24, 2004

Contributed by Kekoa Paulsen

The keynote speaker of the conference is Cathy Keli'iho'omalu, a senior location executive at IBM who oversees IBM operations in Hawai'i and Guam. Keli'iho'omalu is a graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy and Stanford University; she joined IBM in 1980 as a systems engineer in Palo Alto, Calif.

The conference is the first of its kind for the Kamehameha CyberWarriors. Last year, after reading about technology conference in Austria, the club decided to create a conference of their own for their peers. The student members play an active role as they will be presenting many of the sessions being offered at the event. Topics include network gaming, basic and advanced web development, basic and advanced computer building, basic and advanced video production, server development, .NET development, digital music, and audio engineering.

The second day of the conference consists of the HiTechQuest Basic Operations and Concepts Competition where student teams will identify, describe and apply strategies for solving routine hardware and software problems that occur in every day use.
