Imua TV Debuts in SFO

  • Kamehameha Schools' Strategic Plan Implementation; Making the plan a reality; the challenges and the opportunities.
  • The dedication of Kamehameha's newest campus and what this means to East Hawai'i families; Waimanalo Preschool -- The most recent of three Kamehameha Schools-owned preschools built and dedicated to bringing early education to Hawaiian communities.
  • Wright Bowman, master wood craftsman, and apprentice Ka'ili Chun -- Two graduates (1928 and 1980) working together in the time-honored tradition of master and apprentice.
  • 'Ale'a -- A warm-hearted story of four graduates who are helping to make traditional Hawaiian music popular again. Where did they come from and where are they going? A companion Web site, www.imua.tv, contains an archive of all shows, previews of future shows, and a feedback link for viewers to submit comments on current or past shows, or suggest a topic for a future show. The show is hosted by Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Campus Hawaiian language teacher Lilinoe Ka'ahanui. Airdates have also been confirmed for the next three installments:
  • Saturday, July 13 at 3:30 pm -- Show #2 features a tribute to Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, a visit to the Heritage Center, a student-guided tour of the new Maui campus, Hawaiian language students on network TV, Kamehameha's commitment to and progress in the preservation of land and natural resources, and the KS Warrior marching band and color guard.
  • Saturday, July 20 at 3:30 pm -- Show #3 highlights the Elementary Chorus and its participation in Disney's Lilo and Stitch movie, what it takes to keep the Kapalama campus running, a tribute to Myron Pinky Thompson, a chat with Trustees Robert Kihune and Douglas Ing, and an update on the Strategic Plan.
  • Saturday, July 27 at 3:30 pm -- Show #4 covers Kamehameha Schools' 80th Anniversary Song Contest, Kulana O'iwi--Moloka'i's full-service center, Ke Ali'i Pauahi Foundation, and KS students' work in medical research.
