A collaboration between Kamehameha Schools and the Hawai'i Department of Education, 'Ike Pono is intended for families and educators of children in public and private K-12 schools in Hawai'i. The hour-long program, moderated by Kamehameha Schools Curriculum Design Specialist Aaron Mersberg, is taped in the Midkiff Learning Center television studio on the Kapalama Campus and distributed statewide on educational public access channels -- Channel 56 on O'ahu, Channel 52 on Maui, Channel 53 on Hawai'i and Channel 10 on Kaua'i. The show will air from 5 to 6 p.m. "Ike Pono covers topics that are not usually taken up on other television shows," said Henry Meyer, Director of Kamehameha's Distance Learning Department. "Past shows have involved Hawaiian immersion schools, Hawaiian-based charter schools and program opportunities with Kamehameha's Extension Education division, and we are looking forward to covering many other topics of interest to teachers, students and parents." New episodes will air on Mondays with rebroadcasts on Wednesdays. Air dates are Sept. 23, Oct. 21, Nov. 18, Dec. 16, Jan. 13, Feb. 10, March 10, April 7 and May 5.
