"We are looking forward to providing essential college scholarship opportunities for native Hawaiian students," said Kalei Stern, Executive Director. "Through the generosity and heartfelt gifts of hundreds of donors, the Foundation is able to serve native Hawaiians deep into our Hawaiian communities.
Scholarship applications are open to the general public, including students who are not graduates of Kamehameha Schools. The Tesoro Corporation Scholarship for those pursuing a career in the trade industry and the Richard Marks Educational Fund for physicians who support the health and wellness of people of Hawaiian ancestry in addition to medical students who are and will be serving their Hawaiian communities are among the scholarships being offered for the 2010-2011 academic year.
Most scholarships are for individuals who are a classified, full-time student at an accredited institution. Applicants must also be enrolled in a two- to four-year post-high degree program and demonstrate satisfactory academic achievement and merit.
Additionally, certain scholarships may require applicants to demonstrate financial need. Select scholarships are also available to individuals who are enrolled on a part-time basis, or attending an accredited vocational or trade institution. The online scholarship application must be completed on or before Thursday, April 1, 2010, 4 p.m. HST. Required documents must be postmarked or hand-delivered to the Foundation's office no later than Thursday, April 1, 2010.
