CEO Team Message: Trustee Selection

October 30, 2008

Contributed by Thomas Yoshida

While no one will ever be able to replace Admiral and his consistently caring and courageous leadership, Probate Court Judge Colleen Hirai today appointed a seven-member Trustee Screening Committee to begin the process of soliciting and accepting nominations for Admiral's successor. The Selection Committee members are:

Robert Alm, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs, Hawaiian Electric Company, Inc.

Wendy B. Crabb, active community volunteer, currently serving as Trustee for Hanahauoli School, Punahou School and La Pietra Hawai'i School for Girls.

George "Keoki" Freeland, Executive Director at the Lahaina Restoration Foundation

Francis Keala, Former Chief of Police

Cheryl Kauhane Lupenui, President and Chief Executive Officer, Young Women's Christian Association of Honolulu

Benjamin Matsubara, President & Director, Matsubara, Lee & Kotake, A Law Corporation; former Court Master

Michael Eric Rawlins, Retired Colonel, United States Army National Guard; Former U.S. Property & Fiscal Officer, US Army.

The Screening committee will review applications and nominations and then select three finalists, whose names will be published in the newspaper. The committee will receive public comment on the finalists for 30 days, and then submit a report detailing the input to the Court. The Court will select the new Trustee.

Some in our community have asked how they can provide input into this process. We will know more once the selection committee convenes and organizes itself and I will provide you with more information as soon as I have it.

E mālama pono,
