Ceded Lands Discussion at Ke’elikolani Performing Arts Center

October 14, 2009

Contributed by Thomas Yoshida

What are Ceded Lands? Why do issues about Ceded Lands revolve around the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom government and the annexation of Hawai'i to the United States?

David Keanu Sai, has a Ph.D. in Political Science and is currently a lecturer at Kapi'olani Community College. Drawing from his recent doctoral dissertation and law journal article written last year, Dr. Sai will present historical and legal contexts that show there are no "Ceded Lands."
