Contributed by Pakalani Bello

Pieper was an assistant coach on the KS Kapālama varsity baseball staff for nine years from 2002-10, helping lead the Warriors to five state semifinal games, three state title games and one state championship, in 2003.

The 1996 graduate from KS Kapālama was a two-sport standout in his prep and collegiate days, starring in both football and baseball. At KSK, he was named the Athlete of the Year, while being named to the Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Hall of Honor. Pieper was also his class president while at KSK. He went on to play both sports at UCLA, helping the Bruins to two Pac-10 championships in football and one College World Series appearance in baseball.

Pieper was initially drafted out of high school by the New York Yankees, but decided to attend UCLA instead. After his collegiate days, he was signed as a free agent by the Kansas City Royals organization, playing three seasons with their Single A and Double A affiliates, before returning to the islands.

The Hawai'i Kai native earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from UCLA and was Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society (Business School Honor Society), earning his Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. He is currently the Vice President of Business Development at Makai Ocean Engineering.
