This summer, Kamehameha Schools haumāna are gaining confidence in a speech and debate class centered around Native Hawaiian identity and community advocacy.

Ho‘omāka‘ika‘i, our weeklong boarding program on O‘ahu, provides foundational Hawaiian values and practices through hands-on, ‘āina-based learning days for keiki entering 6th grade.

At KS Maui, Nā Wāhine ‘Ahumanu joined the “Poi for the Pēpē” project, putting ‘ōiwi leadership into action and demonstrating how student-led, culture-based learning drives impact beyond the classroom. Haumāna delivered poi they made to KS Preschools ‘ohana on Maui.

Maui middle schoolers walk to support suicide prevention

Kamehameha Schools Maui middle schoolers walked the walk — literally — in their first-ever Miles 4 Smiles wellness walkathon. More than 300 students, kumu and staff laced up and looped around the ‘A‘apueo campus, raising awareness for suicide prevention and prioritizing mental health one step at a time.
