Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i

ʻŌiwi Edge - our campus identity

Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i haumāna learn to activate their ‘Ōiwi Edge, our campus identity, in their educational journey. The Hawaiian worldview, culture, and language empowers keiki to fulfill their passions and purposes as they prepare for college. The campus community of excellent educators teach haumāna how to be agents of social change through rigorous challenges and problem-solving. Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i impresses upon their students that the key to college preparation is an unwavering understanding of their Hawaiian identity.

Elementary

At kula ha‘aha‘a (Elementary School), we offer a rigorous foundational curriculum aligned with college and career readiness. We aim to nurture haumāna who are creative, self-directed learners who are competent in collaboration, communication, digital literacy, critical thinking and problem solving.

Middle

At kula waena (middle school), haumāna transition successfully from kula ha‘aha‘a and begin to explore and dive into additional interests including tech, drama, art and band all while building upon the foundational curriculum aligned with college and career readiness.

High

At kula ki‘eki‘e (high school), we prepare haumāna for life after graduation with career academies, advanced placement programs, and dual credit college programs.


Athletics

With over 20 different sports we offer opportunities for haumāna to engage in a variety of sports at the JV or varsity level during each season.

Clubs

Extracurricular and co-curricular activities are an essential part of a well-rounded education. We offer a broad spectrum of activities for haumāna to sharpen their skills in leadership,academics, community service, culture, and the arts.

As a proud parent of two KS Hawai‘i alumni, Ashlin has had the privilege of witnessing her keiki's remarkable journey, growth and transformation. With the guidance and support of our kumu, her keiki grew to be confident ‘ōiwi leaders, inspired to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.

Over the break, we were fortunate to have many of our athletes participate in tournaments, including our @kulawaena wrestlers. The Hawai’i Jr Officials Tournament took place on O’ahu on Dec 23, hosted by KS Kapālama. KS Hawaiʻi was able to send 8 middle schoolers to the event (6 boys and 2 girls).Ethan Lee and Kapiko St Laurent finished 2nd and 3rd in their respective weight class.Alex Teeples finished 3rd in the 144lb weight class.Hoʻomaikaʻi to all of these athletes on challenging themselves with these special competitions.Mahalo nui loa to ATC Zeny Eakins for sharing these pics and the news!#imuakamehameha

A special treat for the new year. This Friday evening at 6pm, @hoike.a.hai will present “The Runaway Musubi: A Journey Through Tales”, an an original play about the Musubi Man, designed after the Gingerbread man, who doesn’t want to be in his story anymore. He goes on a journey through a variety of different stories trying to see if he can find a better one.Admission to the show is free, though we are encouraging attendees to consider a direct donation to the Food Basket, Hawaiʻi Island’s food bank. Canned/non-perishable food donations will also be collected at the door.
