Kakaʻako Agora: Indoor public park fosters creativity and innovation

Kamehameha Schools and community collaborator Interisland Terminal recently celebrated the opening of Kakaʻako Agora, Honolulu’s first urban, indoor public park. Located at 441 Cooke St., the once-empty warehouse is now a 3,225-square-foot agora (gathering place) devoted to arts and culture.

KS collaborates to boost Waiʻanae Coast college enrollment

KS has teamed up with the University of Hawaiʻi System and other community collaborators to develop ʻOnipaʻa, a summer bridge program that helps newly graduated Waiʻanae Coast seniors acclimate to college. The program provides follow-up support to assure that students complete their first year of college successfully and move on to their second.

KS supports Hōkūle‘aʻs Worldwide Voyage

KS has pledged $2 million to the Polynesian Voyaging Society in support of the four-year Worldwide Voyage of Hōkūle‘a and its sister canoe Hikianalia. The funds will support the creation of learning tools to share the ocean voyage with preschool to college-aged students and the larger community.
