Tsunami Warning – Update #1 from Kamehameha Schools

July 29, 2025

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has issued a tsunami WARNING for the state of Hawaiʻi. The estimated earliest arrival of the first wave is 7:10 p.m.

Our top priority is to protect the safety of our haumāna, ʻohana and employees. Effective immediately, Kamehameha Schools will close all preschool and non-education sites and offices. For campuses, parents are advised to follow the messages sent by their respective campuses.

Please follow evacuation orders from authorities and stay tuned to the latest information from your local news source or by visiting the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center website. As the tsunami approaches, let’s prepare, stay informed and draw strength from our kaiāulu and Ke Akua.

As the situation develops, we will keep you informed with timely updates on any new or extended site closures and other changes to our operations. We plan to send a follow-up message about when campuses and sites will re-open.
