E ho‘omaika‘i to Nicole Read who was recently named Health Services director for Kamehameha Schools. Prior to her new post, Read was interim director and Health Services manager at Hale Ola at KS Kapālama.
In her new position, Read has kuleana for the Mālama Ola Division – which includes Hale Ola and the health rooms at KS Kapālama, KS Maui and KS Hawaiʻi – athletic training, and behavioral health services.
“Nicole has done an excellent job in this interim role over the last seven months supporting us through the volatile COVID-19 pandemic and her proven experience will continue to guide KS moving into the future,” said Crystal Busey, senior director of Enterprise Safety & Student Well-Being.
KS will continue to partner with both Hawai‘i Pacific Health and a contracted behavioral health physician to support the healthcare needs of its Mālama Ola program including pediatrics, athletic training, infectious disease, well-being and mental health.
Before joining KS in 2020, Read worked as a family nurse practitioner in both Oregon and on O‘ahu, and prior to that as a registered nurse and clinic manager of a non-profit health center. Read is certified as a family nurse practitioner and a public health nurse, and has her certification with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
The KS Kapālama alum holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, and a Master of Science degree in nursing from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
