Survivors who need counseling may call a dedicated, confidential phone line operated by Praesidium, a third-party administrator contracted by KS to facilitate support to survivors. Praesidium is a national leader in sexual misconduct and abuse prevention, with extensive experience in providing confidential victim-oriented support services. Its trained safety specialists are available to respond to all calls.
Any former student or individual who is a survivor of sexual misconduct or physical abuse by a KS employee, contractor or volunteer while enrolled in a KS campus or program is eligible for these services. (Survivors who settle claims with KS may not be eligible).
Counseling will be provided by a qualified provider of the Survivor’s choice in the Survivor’s area, no matter where he or she lives. If the Survivor does not have a preference, Praesidium will provide Survivor with a list of providers in his or her area to choose from. All conversations with the selected provider and Praesidium’s staff will be confidential.
If a Survivor wishes to speak with someone at Kamehameha Schools about an incident of past abuse, Praesidium will connect him or her with the appropriate contact person at Kamehameha Schools for a prompt response. A survivor may also report directly to Kamehameha Schools through Hi‘ikua Line, a confidential helpline accessible online or by phone (1-844-284-2640) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
