Hoʻomaikaʻi to senior Xander Calicdan on being recognized as a 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalist!

As such, Xander is recognized as one of the top high school students in the nation and is one of only 65 students across Hawaiʻi (and of four on Hawaiʻi Island) earning this prestigious honor. Nationally, only 16,000 students achieve this distinction out of the 1.5 million that enter the program by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT /National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last fall. The semifinalists represent less than 1 % of U.S. high school seniors, including the highest-scoring entrants in each state. He is now eligible for more than $30 million in scholarships to be offered next spring.

Hoʻomaikaʻi to Xander and his ʻohana on a well-deserved recognition for his tremendous academic work over the years!

National Merit Commended Scholars will be announced at the end of the month.
