Three students (junior Kaiwi Greaney, recent graduate Faith Blalock and senior Cassidy Kaniho) from Kamehameha Schools Kapālama advanced to the finals of It’s Academic Hawaiʻi after winning the first semifinal of the series.

The academic quiz show from KFVE The Home Team, challenges Hawaiʻi high school students with a series of trivia questions. The competition starts out with 27 teams across Hawaiʻi, advancing through three rounds of competition.

It's Academic Hawaii is designed to be an academic showcase for Hawaiʻi public and private high schools, in the hope of bringing the kind of acclaim generally reserved for sports heroes to the arena of academic achievement.

The KSK team won a tie-breaker question over Hawaiʻi Baptist Academy to advance. Maryknoll School was also in their semifinal draw.

The show airs every Sunday at 6:00 p.m. on KFVE and is simultaneously live streamed on KFVE.com. Rebroadcast of each show appears on the following Saturday at 9:35 p.m. This is the seventh season of the show.

The championship round will air on Sunday, July 8th at 6 p.m. Watch how they got there.
