In individual competition, KS Maui senior Mikah Labuanan completed a grand slam, earning gold in the 150-pound division, capturing his fourth state wrestling title in as many years. Labuanan is Maui’s first four-time state champ.

He told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser: “To have my lāhui there, everyone supporting me and loving me, to come here and represent them and make history, that means so much to me. It’s bigger than I am. It’s bigger than our program. It’s for our whole island. I’m forever grateful to be part of Kamehameha-Maui.”

Labuanan wasn’t the only KS Maui wrestler to earn tournament gold. Junior Blake Abernathy won in the 138-pound division.

On the girls side, three KS Kapālama wrestlers earned gold including senior Jax Realin who won in 130-pound division to earn an impressive third state title. The other two girls state champs were freshman Auriana Wahinekona in the 110-pound division and senior Rylie Nishida in the 125-pound division.

Finally, hoʻomaikaʻi to KS Kapālama junior David Wong who earned gold in the 100-yard breastroke in the K. Mark Takai/HHSAA State Swimming and Diving Championship.

Hulō to all our outstanding ʻālapa haumāna for your outstanding efforts in representing Ke Kula ʻo Kamehameha and the lāhui.
