DARREL R. HOKE, Chief Operating Officer
Darrel Hoke is the chief operating officer for Kamehameha Schools.
Under Hoke’s direction, the Administration Group ensures that KS operates as a high-performing Native Hawaiian organization by overseeing the trust’s Advancement, Education Support Services, Enterprise Information Management and Architecture, Enterprise Safety & Student Well-Being, Enterprise Security, Enterprise Technology, Ethics & Compliance/Policies & Procedures, Facilities Development and Support Division, and Human Resources divisions.
Prior to being named chief executive officer, he was the executive vice president of administration since April 2015. Hoke was also Kamehameha’s director of Internal Audit, helping KS trustees carry out their fiduciary responsibilities through independent, objective assurance and consulting support.
During his 13 years as director, he gained an in-depth understanding of Kamehameha’s endowment portfolio. He also gained extensive knowledge of the trust’s operating budget which supports three K-12 campuses, 30 preschools, and numerous community education programs and collaborations.
Hoke also brings with him more than 14 years of experience in the public accounting and finance industries. Prior to joining Kamehameha Schools, he was an audit manager at Ernst & Young followed by senior vice president at Bank of Hawaii, overseeing budgeting, cost accounting, and risk-based management reporting.
Hoke is a graduate of St. Louis School, earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Seattle University and is a certified public accountant.
