Kamehameha Schools names Dr. Jamee Miller regional director of North Shore and Windward Oʻahu

Honolulu – Kamehameha Schools (KS) has named Dr. Jamee Miller regional director for its North Shore and Windward O‘ahu regions which encompass all of Waialua, Ko‘olauloa and Ko‘olaupoko. Miller was previously regional director of KS’ West Hawai‘i region and will serve as interim regional director until her replacement is found.

The new position is part of the Community Engagement and Resources Group (CE&R), a recent addition to the KS organizational structure. CE&R oversees KS’ comprehensive approach to providing services in each region. The group pursues partnerships with key entities that possess similar goals to improve the educational systems that touch Hawai‘i’s people.

As regional director, Miller’s kuleana includes facilitating region-wide planning, with community collaborators, to strategize the implementation of educational programming that addresses community needs. These actions are directly in line with part of CE&R’s goals to contribute to communities’ collective efforts to improve Hawai‘i’s educational systems under KS’ Strategic Plan 2020 – Kūhanauna and Strategic Vision 2040.

“Jamee laid a strong foundation for Kamehameha’s efforts in West Hawai‘i,” said Alapaki Nahale-a, senior director for Hawai‘i island CE&R.

“We’re thankful for all she has done, especially during our transition to a new strategic plan. We will continue to build on the work she has accomplished and are excited about the contributions she will make on O‘ahu.”

Miller’s transfer allows her to bring her skill sets and experience as a seasoned regional director to the North Shore and Windward O‘ahu regions to advance CE&R’s community engagement efforts.

“I am very excited to continue the important mission of Pauahi and furthering the goals of SV2040 by joining the O‘ahu team,” she says.  “I enjoy being part of the CE&R ‘ohana and believe in the new direction this group represents within KS.

“I will miss the people and unique work of West Hawai‘i tremendously but will utilize those experiences to forge and strengthen new relationships.  It is a privilege to return and serve the community that nurtured and raised me, my children and now my mo‘opuna.”

Prior to joining KS, Miller worked for the Queen Lili‘uokalani Children’s Center in Ko‘olauloa and West Hawai‘i, taught at Kailua High School and started a Healthy Start program in Waimānalo that continues today.

Miller was born and raised in Punalu‘u and holds two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Hawai‘i, one in Hawaiian studies and another in secondary education. She also has a master’s degree in social work from UH-Mānoa and a doctorate in education from the University of Southern California.
