Heluhelu Baibala/Bible Reading

Ua hoʻopiha ʻo ia iā lāua i ke akamai o ka naʻau, e hana i nā hana a pau, ʻo ka mea kahakaha, a me ka mea hana akamai, a me ka mea humuhumu i ka uliuli, a me ka poni, a me ka ʻulaʻula, a me ke olonā keʻokeʻo, a me ka mea ʻupena, a me ka mea hana i nā hana a pau, a me ka mea ʻimi i ka hana akamai.- Puka ‘Ana 35:35
He has filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, or by a weaver—by any sort of workman or skilled designer.- Exodus 35:35

I give props to all those who have the gift of creativity. There are those who are good at writing, others like to draw, while some can write or give harmony to mele. These individuals have the gift of bringing life to things so they can light up the lives of others. Just where did these artisans get their skill? 

When Moses was building a tabernacle and tent to hold the Ark of the Covenant, he knew that God deserved a masterpiece. So, he called upon Bezalel whom God had filled with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and all craftsmanship. Bezalel knew he needed to involve others in the process, so he put in his heart to teach, both he and Oholiab, “He filled them with skill to perform every work of an engraver, of a designer, and of an embroiderer, in violet, purple, and in scarlet material, and in fine linen, and of a weaver, as performers of every work and makers of designs.”  (Exodus 35:30-35)

Think about what gift you have been to create works of beauty. Thank God for that skill. Go beyond the normal and look for ways to see things through a different lens, the lens of creativity.  Know too, that it is your kuleana to teach others so they may experience the joy of learning a new craft. All of this is given to us not for our glory but for Ke Akua.  We have all been called to serve as ministers to support those in need and spread the message of the Gospel. Ephesians 2:10 tells us,
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
