Watch the Hoʻoulu Transition Ceremony for the Class of 2029

May. 24, 2022

Kula Haʻahaʻa Hoʻoulu Transition Ceremony for the class of 2029 took place on Tuesday, May 24 at 8:30 a.m. as our fifth grade haumāna ceremoniously transitioned

The tradition is an important and poignant rite of passage for our papa 5 haumāna as they continue on their K-12 journey here at Kamehameha Hawaiʻi.

In addition to hearing words from their peers and school leaders, each haumāna had their name read aloud, and haumāna were able to congratulate them on-stage in their moment.

Haumāna also sang one last time together as the fifth grade class as a mele hoʻokupu, performing the original Hawaiian national anthem, "He Mele Lāhui Hawaiʻi", written by HRH Liliʻuokalani in 1866, before Kalākaua wrote "Hawaiʻi Ponoʻī" which took its place.
