Our Grade 7 beginning band kicked off the performances.

Both Kula Kiʻekiʻe and Kula Waena hosted a joint Fall Pops Concert on Thursday, September 19 in Lunalilo performing and incredible set featuring big band classics and the latest radio hits.

Here was the program and music shared that night:

Papa ʻEhiku Beginning Band

  • Selections from Accent on Achievement Book 1
    • Take Five (Lower Brass-Tuba, Euphonium & Trombone)
    • Three Note Samba (Upper Brass-French Horn & Trumpet)
    • Hot Cross Buns (Flute, Oboe & Mallets)
    • Au Claire De La Lune (Clarinet & Alto Saxophone)
  • "Warp Speed" by Michael Story

Papa ʻEwalu Intermediate Band

  • "Sousa Spectacular" arr. by John O’Reilly and Mark Williams 
  • "A Million Dreams" arr. by Paul Murtha 
  • "Taylor Swift on Tour"  arr. by Michael Brown

High School Advanced Band

  • "Liadov Fanfare" by Brian Beck
  • "Remember Me" arr. Johnnie Vinson
  • "How to Train Your Dragon Highlights" arr. Johnnie Vinson
  • "Slava March" by Randall D. Standridge

High Schools Symphonic Band

  • "Fanfare Esprit" by Carol Britten Chambers
  • "La Tregenda" by Gioccomo Puccini, arr. Beck
  • "Bequine for Band" by Glen Osser
  • "Glenn Miller in Concert" arr. Paul Murtha

Mass Band (all HS and MS bands together)

  • "Locked Out of Heaven" arr. Paul Murtha
  • "Made You Look" arr. Jay Dawson


It was an exciting night of performances, and high school band director, Mr. Willie Harris, also announced our plans for the first ever KS Hawaiʻi alumni band
