See a change to our COVID protocols and a precaution we are taking returning from Fall Break.

Test kits for haumāna and a new reporting protocol

Sept. 27, 2022

We hope that everyone is looking forward to a safe and relaxing Fall Break next week. The first quarter of this year has already brought so much joy and a renewed energy and excitement to our kula, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year will bring, but are thankful for this time to rest and recharge before a new quarter begins.

We are also grateful for where we are currently with this pandemic. We still remain vigilant and remember our personal kuleana, but COVID has not been the disrupter it was the past two years. As such, there are two things we wanted to make sure ʻohana are aware of in our approach to COVID protocols.

Test kits will be distributed to students this week:

Rapid antigen test kits provided by the Hawaiʻi Department of Health and Hui Mālama Ola Nā ʻŌiwi will be given to all students this week. We are encouraging all students to test before returning back following Fall Break, as an additional precaution. Only positive test results would need to be reported, and can be done via our COVID reporting form or contact your keiki’s Health Room.

COVID reporting announced weekly online

With case counts remaining low over the past two weeks and continuing a downward trend, we are making one additional shift with our positive case notifications moving from a weekly group email to just reporting weely online. Our final weekly positive case notification will take place this Friday, September 30, if needed. Following that, anyone interested in seeing how many cases are impacting our ʻohana can do so on our weekly case update page, which will be updated each Friday. Should conditions or reporting requirements change, we will adjust accordingly. The link to the weekly case update page can also be found in the COVID-19 Resources section of our website.

Kamehameha Schools remains committed to safe, in-person instruction and doing what will best ensure that our kauhale remains healthy. Our kula is well-prepared to adapt our safety measures should conditions change. We wish you a happy and safe Fall Break!
