Student Achievement: Cheizyn Montizor completes internship investigating sea level rise

July 31, 2023

A big hoʻomaikaʻi to Kaʻiwahoʻokelewaʻa Class of 2025 haumāna Cheizyn Montizor on recently completing an internship program with Project Hōkūlani—an educational research project funded by the U.S. Department of Education and The Native Hawaiian Education Program Grant.

Cheizyn successfully completed research study and field work in partnership with Hui Hoʻoleimaluō Loko iʻa utilizing science technology such as drone imagery, RTK GPS, Agisoft Metashape and water sensors to gather data.

This valuable data will be used to determine how sea level rise will affect our coast and loko iʻa in the future.

With this research, she hopes to inspire keiki, ohana and community to Mālama ʻĀina, preserve our loko iʻa and support S.T.E.M because anyone can make an impact. Next up, Cheizyn is working to soon finish a research project with Pioneer Academics, the only fully accredited online research program for high school scholars.

Hoʻomaikaʻi e Cheizyn! So proud of you!

Mahalo nui loa to Cheri Montizor for sharing this great news!
