Sharpshooting student-athletes hit mark at state air riflery championships

The girls squads from Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i and Maui posted successful performances at the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association/Civilian Marksmanship Program 2019 Air Riflery State Championships held Tuesday at Neal S. Blaisdell Center.

The KS Hawai‘i girls finished third with 2096 points, and ended up just 22 points behind state champion Sacred Hearts Academy. The KS Maui competitors wrapped up the event in seventh place.

In the girls individual competition, KS Hawai‘i’s Kanani Araki finished fourth in the state with a cumulative score of 621.1 (a tally encompassing her performances in the prone, standing and kneeling events), while teammate Nahulu Carvalho (618.5 points) finished sixth overall.
