Kamehameha Schools has created a set of Hawaiian-focused devotionals for the four weeks of Advent. Share them with family and friends! Each devotional includes: a scripture reading, some manaʻo (thoughts), questions to ponder, a pule (prayer), a keiki lesson, and an hīmeni (hymn). Kamehameha Schools has created a set of Hawaiian-focused devotionals for the four weeks of Advent and Christmas Eve. This week’s devotional by KSK Kahu Kordell Kekoa focuses on “Place.” Share the devotionals with family and friends!

Each devotional includes:

  • A scripture reading in ʻolelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language) and English
  • Some manaʻo (thoughts)
  • Questions to ponder
  • A pule (prayer)
  • A lesson, pule and activity especially for keiki
  • A hīmeni (hymn) with corresponding video

In the video below, KS Kapālama Kahu Kordell Kekoa and son Kalaniaukai sing the suggested hīmeni for the second week of Advent, “Betelehema Iki Ē” or “O Little Town of Bethlehem.”

Theme: Maluhia (Peace)
Hīmeni: “O Little Town of Bethlehem.”


This week’s Advent devotional theme is Maluhia – Peace. Each devotional includes a scripture reading, message, prayer, keiki lesson, and hymn. KS Cultural Specialist Hauʻoli Akaka (above) provided cultural guidance to the chaplains for the Advent series.
