A See Something, Say Something training is being rolled out for students.

See Something, Say Something encourages accountability

Sept. 13, 2024

Safety is the top priority at Kamehameha Hawaiʻi. We want every haumāna, every kumu, every ʻohana member to feel that this is a safe space for themselves or their keiki. In 2023, we launched a See Something, Say Something call to action as a reminder that everyone plays an important role in the safety of our environment. It encourages accountability and allows for situations to be addressed sooner than later. While the hope is that every student feels comfortable bringing their concerns to an adult, it also acknowledges that those conversations aren’t easy, and provides for additional ways students can report those concerns.

This year, training will take place for students across all divisions to better understand how and when they should use those tools. While the hope is that incidents won’t occur at all, realistically, we know we need to be prepared for everything, and having these tools in place and promoting a culture of accountability can make the difference in how quickly issues and incidents are addressed and resolved.

Please join us in encouraging those around us to speak up when things aren’t right and to make pono choices everyday, starting at home and anywhere you may go.

I Mua Kamehameha!

New signage has been posted throughout campus to encourage reporting.
