Register to volunteer at KS Hawaiʻi

May 9, 2024

Mahalo for your interest in volunteering with Kamehameha Schools. At Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi, we greatly appreciate the contributions of volunteers. We encourage our KS ʻohana to serve as volunteers, enriching the overall educational experience of our haumāna.

To maintain a safe learning environment for students, staff, and volunteers, Kamehameha Schools requires that individuals submit the following applicable requirements:

  • Application to Volunteer (submitted annually)
  • Criminal History Background Check through HireRight
  • Online Volunteer Training “Ensuring A Safe Learning Environment”
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Clearance (required if volunteering for more than 30 days within the school year)

To become an approved volunteer, complete the KS Application to Volunteer for the current school year.

You will be required to consent to a criminal history background check. The following provides you with information on KS’ volunteer background check process:

  • KS partners with HireRight, a leading provider of background check services.

  • The background check process includes a 10-year nationwide criminal conviction search, a Social Security Number trace, and a National Sex Offender Registry search.

  • Results may take up to 4 weeks to be returned. We will notify you if any result of your background checks excludes you from participating as a volunteer with KS.

  • If you've successfully completed a criminal background check through KS within the past three years, you may submit a criminal history self-declaration form instead
