Nā Hīmeni Kalikiano is a monthly offering of mele and pule led by nā kahu of Ke Kula ʻo Kamehameha. These familiar songs and heartfelt prayers help us grow our relationship with Ke Akua, grounding our daily lives in love, service and spiritual discipline.
The Hawaiian doxology “Hoʻonani I Ka Makua Mau,” a rendering of “Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow,” later gained an additional verse in 2005 by ʻŌiwi scholar Haunani Bernardino. Sung as a hymn of praise and gratitude, the mele reminds us to honor Ke Akua for His blessings and presence in all creation.
E ko mākou Makua i loko o ka lani
Our Father who art in heaven
E ho‘āno ‘ia kou inoa
Hallowed be Thy name
E hiki mai kou aupuni
Thy kingdom come
E mālama ‘ia kou makemake ma ka honua nei
Thy will be done on earth
E like me ia i mālama ‘ia ma ka lani lā
As it is in heaven
E hā‘awi mai iā mākou i kēia la
Give us this day
I ‘ai na mākou no nēia lā
Our daily bread
E kala mai ho‘i iā mākou i kā mākou lawehala ‘ana
And forgive us our sins
Me mākou e kala nei i ka po‘e i lawehala i kā mākou
As we forgive those who sin against us
Mai ho‘oku‘u ‘oe iā mākou i ka ho‘owalewale ‘ia mai
And lead us not into temptation
E ho‘opakele nō na‘e iā mākou i ka ‘ino
But deliver us from evil
No ka mea, nou ke aupuni, a me ka mana, a me ka ho‘onani ‘ia a mau loa aku
For Thine is the kingdom, the glory, and the power forever and ever
ʻĀmene.
Amen.
