Kamehameha Schools rejects the remarks made recently by a UH physics professor regarding the quality of our education and haumāna. Statements such as these, though intended to be hurtful, only make us stronger and more resolute. We know who we are, and we are proud of our school and nā pua a Pauahi.
We want to acknowledge and mahalo our lāhui for their words of encouragement and support on social media, through email and phone calls – a true testament to the strength of voice in our people, for our people.
While we are disappointed by these statements, we know they do not reflect the views of the University of Hawaiʻi. We appreciate that the University’s leadership has apologized to us, and we will trust that they will follow through with appropriate action.
