Kia Kahua | KSH January 2026 Construction Update

As campus improvement projects continue to move forward, we are pleased to share Kia Kahua —the work that sustains our foundation. Its a manifestation of our commitment to providing regular updates on major infrastructure and capital improvement efforts. 

Mahalo for your continued kōkua and patience as we care for and enhance our campus in service of our haumāna, staff, and community. 

This update highlights seven of our larger, more visible projects currently underway across campus.

1. High School Student Parking Improvements

This project represents a significant upgrade from the former gravel parking area. Improvements are designed to enhance student safety, clarify parking stall organization, and allow for more efficient use of available space. 

Remaining Work: 

  • Electrical scope for site lighting 
  • Drainage adjustments near Building 28 

Upcoming Milestones: 

  • Asphalt installation - scheduled to begin January 12
  • Parking striping 
  • Speed bump installation 

Anticipated Completion: February 23, 2026 


2. Naeʻole Pool – Deck and Tile Repairs

Widely regarded as one of the premier pools in the state, Naeʻole Pool remains a cornerstone of our physical education and athletics programs. While long-term planning is underway, immediate repairs are being completed to ensure continued safety, quality, and daily usability. 

Scope of Work includes: 

  • New deck surface application 
  • Tile and grout repairs within the pool 
  • Upgrades to the pump and chlorination systems 

Anticipated Completion: January 12, 2026 


3. Paiʻea Stadium Track Resurfacing

A modern, professional-grade track surface is nearing completion, supporting both athletic performance and safety. 

Current Phase: 

  • Surface installation complete

Upcoming Milestone: 

  • Track striping to begin second week of January

Anticipated Completion: January 30, 2026 


4. Koaiʻa Gym Entry Lānai and William Charles Lunalilo Center Lānai

These projects were designed to expand functional gathering space and increase flexibility for campus and community use. 

Current Work: 

  • Vaulted ceiling finishes with custom wood coffered slats 
  • Interior and exterior painting 
  • Restoration of surrounding landscape areas 

Anticipated Completion: April 27, 2026 


5. Keawe Dining Hall Expansion

In support of our growing Kula Kiʻekiʻe, the Keawe Dining Hall expansion will provide additional seating capacity and improved dining flow. 

Project Complexity: 

  • Multi-phase construction with coordinated utilities and finishes

Anticipated Completion: October 30, 2026 


6. Kula Waena – Vocational Technical & Math (VTAM) Lānai

Focused on building a strong foundation for hands-on learning and safety, the new VTAM lānai continues to take shape. 

Anticipated Completion: May 15, 2026


7. Koaiʻa Tennis Court Resurfacing

Preparations are underway for the next phase of tennis court improvements. 

  • Current Status: 
    Contractor coordination in progress

Anticipated Completion: T.B.D.

Kia Kahua will continue to share updates as they are relevant to keep our campus community informed of major construction milestones, anticipated impacts, and progress toward completion.

Overview of current work at the high school parking lot.


Tile replacement at Naiʻole should be finish next week.


Lanai extensions to both Lunalilo Hale and Koaiʻa Gym will be done for tje rest of the year.


A much need extension to Keawe Dining Hall started this year, and is expected to continue into next school year.


Extensions for the workspace for the VTAM site are made with student safety at the forefront.


Work on the tennis courts has needed to pause to coordinate with the contractor.
