Halemanu presented with Kaimana Award scholarship

June 6, 2025

Hoʻomaikaʻi to Class of 2025 alumnus Kamaha’o Halemanu and his ‘ohana.

Over the weekend, Kamahaʻo was a recipient of the HMSA Kaimana Scholarship Award.

Twenty (20) seniors were selected state-wide from all public and private schools throughout all athletic leagues (BIIF, ILH, KIF, MIL, OIA). Kamahaʻo was one of 3 that represented Hawaiʻi Island and the single recipient from Kamehameha Schools.

Recipients are recognized based on their academics, athletics, community service, healthy activities, and sportsmanship.

This year’s scholarship recipients were selected from a large pool of applicants who met academic, athletic, and community service requirements. Each will receive $5,000 to help with higher education expenses like tuition, books, computers, and housing.

Past KSH recipients of the HMSA Kaimana Scholarship Award were:

  • 2022 - Montana Lagat

  • 2019 – Pōmaikaʻi Evans-Bautista
  • 2014 – Bram Paikuli
  • 2013 – Nameleokuʻupuʻuwai Naipo-Arsiga
  • 2012 – Erin Carvalho

Only 20 students from across the state are recognized through this scholarship.
