The Community Learning Center at Mā‘ili (CLC-M) was opened in August 2014. The center was created to provide spaces for students and families to learn and grow.
The CLC-M Early Learning Complex is an education hub and features 11 community organizations that are co-located with each other to better serve Wai‘anae Coast keiki and ‘ohana. There are 12 preschool classrooms and 4 infant/toddler classrooms. CLC-M also provides a gathering place for the community, with a wide range of events and services for the entire ‘ohana.
The CLC-M offers many free educational opportunities, events, and services for the entire ‘ohana in partnership with other community organizations
Hawaiian culture-based education classes for ‘ohana
- CLE ‘Ohana Series – monthly Hawaiian content learning opportunities for ʻohana that focus on connection to ‘ohana, culture, and community
- Papa ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i - weekly Hawaiian language classes for the entire ‘ohana
- Kalo Series - monthly ku‘i kalo workshops and yearly papa ku‘i ‘ai & pōhaku ku‘i ‘ai workshops
Skill-building classes
- Computer Class – twice a week class covering Computer Basics and Microsoft Office tools
Community events
- Huliko‘a Kaiāulu – scholar speaker series highlighting presenters from the community
- Keiki Spring Fest – yearly event which features service providers and programs for keiki ages 0-5 and their families
