About me

I was born and raised on the island of Maui and graduated as a 4-year boarder from Lahainaluna High School. I earned my undergraduate degree in Education from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and my master's degree in K-12 Literacy from the University of New England. My 17 years of teaching experience ranges from preschool level to grade 12. I am passionate about reading and learning about brain science and poverty's impact on childhood development. (I know…I sound like I'm SUPER fun to be around!). I have been blessed to be part of the Kamehameha Maui 'Ohana since 2006 and am truly grateful to work with an awesome 7th grade team and middle school children who make everyday an interesting day to be alive!I am happily married to my high school sweetheart and husband, Chuki Dean. We have 4 children: 'Auli'i, Mahie KSM 2023, Kainoa, and Chelsie. We live in Waiohuli, Maui and are actively involved in our church and children's extra-curricular activities.
